letter to the editor

Dear editor,

As a listener of the deftones, i am pleased to hear of another album. The writer of " Heavy Weather," tend to over analyze the meaning behind the dark chaotic lyrics of Camilo Moreno(Lead Singer). Lyrics don't have to mean anything to anyone other than the writer. The world is used to lyrics meaning exactly what they say; instead of lyrics that express how one feels. The writers' Definition of what a song is is the main-stream conformity of what a song is supposed to be. As a musician of over five years, i can relate to much of the lyrics by following he tone in his voice. I agree that the deftones can create good music, but i don't agree with how the deftones' songs are not thought of as songs. Playing well only adds to the appealing aspects of the band and their ability to separate one from the outside world. Why not focus on why music was made to begin with--To express emotions.

Thanks,
Evan Beckstein
